The Mazda MX-5, also known as the Miata (pronounced/mi’a:te/) in North America and Eunos Roadster in Japan, is a two-seater sports roadster built by Mazda in Hiroshima Japan. The model was introduced in 1989 and continues to be a best selling convertible. Now in its third generation, the MX5′s first generation, the NA, sold over 400,000 units from 1989 to 1997 – with a 1.6 L (98 cu in) twin cam, inline 4 engine to 1993, and 1.8 L (110 cu in) engine thereafter (with a de-tuned 1.6 as a budget option in some markets) – The NA is recognizable by its pop-up headlights. The second generation (NB) produced from 1999-2005 with a slight increase in engine power; it can be recognized by the fixed headlights and the glass rear window. The third generation (NC) was introduced in 2006 with a 2.0 L (120 cu in) engine.

The name “PPF Power Kit” was decided on by the folks at Moss Motors or MiataMania for more marketing appeal. My idea was PPF Stabilizer Kit because I felt it more aptly described the product.

According to the Mazda product release, the system “delivers the engine’s natural induction sound to the cowl, just ahead of the windshield, so pleasing engine sounds can be delivered at a comfortable volume without resorting to simply being loud.” Here’s to that. LAURA AND DEAN Thomas started their relationship racing, although not in the manner they do today, behind the wheel of a Spec Miata.

Orlando federal prosecutors filed criminal charges against a man for allegedly striking and killing a manatee at a refuge in Brevard County, court records show.
Joseph E. Miata Jr. faces one count of killing a West Indian manatee, which is protected by the Endangered Species Act, at the Sykes Creek Manatee Refuge in July.
He also faces a count of operating a watercraft in the refuge at a speed greater than what’s allowed.

I have always felt that my PPF Stabilizer Kit should be on every Mazda Miata produced from 1990 to 2005.
Effective and very easy to install.
You will notice a sharper, tighter, ride that you can feel. The Miata’s over all ride quality improves due to less vibration and power train movement from the engine to the differential of the Miata. The entire car settles down and has more solid feel that you notice. I wanted to create a part that was actually effective and was noticed once installed. My goal was a design that was simple, logical, easy to install, and made from high quality materials and built to fit every Miata on the road from 1990-2005.
I created the PPF Stabilizer Kit from my Mazda Miata customer’s vibration complaints about vibration in their Miatas while driving.
PPF is weakest just behind shifter
The Mazda Miata has a long aluminum drive train part that looks like a “trick” piece of “c channel” called the PPF. The PPF is a torque tube of sorts, that connects the rear of the transmission to the front of the differential and acts to support both pieces. There is no rear transmission support in the Miata, the PPF does this job. And, if you look closely at the front end of the PPF, just behind the shifter, there is an area of the PPF that is weak. You would think this portion of the PPF would be the strongest because it is the farthest distance from the motor mounts in front and differential mounts at the rear, but oddly it is not. The PPF performs and incredible task of supporting the weight of the transmission and all the forces placed on it by normal vehicle operation. Quite incredible.

I noticed that when I put my hands on this area of the PPF, that it could be pushed and pulled from side to side very easily. I also discovered that when the section of the PPF and the transmission were struck with my fist or rubber mallet the entire assembly would vibrate for an extended period of time. My idea was to find a way to strengthen this weak section of the PPF.

The Miata differential moves up and down and side to side very easily, so I developed a bushing that would reduce the bounce and sway of the differential. My theory is that combination of the PPF stabilizer and the differential stabilizer bushings would have a very positive effect on Miata and my theory has proven correct.

The Miata PPF Stabilizer Kit was designed originally for my day-to-day Mazda Miata customers to address their vibration concerns, but the performance Miata guys find real benefit using the PPF Stabilizer Kit for the control it gives their high horse power Miatas.
